Dryers
Dryers, why do you suck so much? My clothes are moderately wet coming out of the washer, but dryer, seriously, you've got 45 minutes to get the water out. I know you get damn hot, and I know that you spin pretty constantly. In 45 minutes, I would imagine that you could get my clothes dry. But honestly, you really have very little effect on my clothes. In fact, I tend to think if I were to lay my clothes out on the couch for 45 minutes with a fan on them, I probably would have better results (and it wouldn't cost me four quarters either). Why as a society, have we not done anything to make dryers work better and/or faster? Why is this not important enough to garner public attention? I will never know.
Flint town represent
So let's talk about American Idol a second. How about LaKeisha or whatever her name is? Represent Flint-town, way to kick ass. I have to say, it's a pretty minority-dominated group of ladies. The crackers just sucked. But while a lot of the aforementioned minorities have great voices...they aren't really "pop star" voices. They just wouldn't fit on today's airwaves. Look at Fantasia - she's doing Broadway. Exactly. Because nobody wants to hear you on the radio. Sorry, a spade is a spade.
Good news - I went back to the doctor about my back this week, and the doc told me that as long as I'm still feeling good in the summer, I can do whatever I want. Yeah, boo-ya. I'm pretty psyched about being able to play sports again, that would have been pretty crappy. So hopefully that works out, we'll see. I haven't had any kind of physical activity (other than up and down the stairs at work) since I've been injured, so I don't have any idea what kind of shape I'm in. Eh, one day at a time.
So who thinks Jack (from Lost) is an alien? Maybe a hallucination? With his big tattoo reveal this week, who knows what avenues they are going down. Crazy folks.
Yeah!

Britney, spring training, and Madden bringing me down.
First off....Britney shaves her head. Honestly. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. What is the deal with this girl.
I was doing some research yesterday about how feasible it would be to catch a Tigers spring training game in Florida. Turns out, it's moderately do-able. Looking on site59.com, a flight/hotel/car package from Detroit to Tampa on a Friday -> Monday sort of deal can be had in the $400 range (from Lansing is a bit more expensive, but it might be worth not going to the D). And if the flights were to work out right, it could be do-able to catch three games in that time span. Apparently pretty much every team's spring training facilities are in Florida somewhere, so even "away" games are probably within reach. How awesome would that be?!?! However, I've already got one weekend in March taken with a trip, then April 1st is Wrestlemania and maybe catching the home opener the next day (sweet), so this might be a bad year to take flight to the south. Man it would be great though.
Finally, I'd like to state that I hate EA. I was playing my first game of the regular season in Madden yesterday, and I was having the best game ever. I had nearly 300 passing yards in the first half, I was crushing the Bears. Then the f'n game froze, and I had to restart my Wii. You know, this has happened to me in various sports games, and I swear it only happens when I'm having the best game ever. I know what you're thinking, "Oh probably not, you just remember it more when you're doing really good and the system fails". No, I disagree. I honestly can't remember one time that I was getting my ass handed to me and the game crashed. Never. Always when I'm kicking ass by a lot. Video games always cheat, and this is just more proof.
Oh, and this week's White Rapper show is heading to Detroit! Awesome!

Tooth Tunes...awesome.
Salgat, I may be able to hook you up with some ties...I think with 500, we could make a deal. No word on when they are coming in yet, hopefully I'm not getting hosed. We'll see.
Good news, I suck less at Madden now. After dropping the first game of the preseason, I've won the last three. I'm only playing on Pro level, and the computer has definitely bailed me out of some terrible throws, but I'm feeling a lot better about my skills. I've found that running works especially well with the Lions, strangely enough. And the Wiimote definitely is sweet for blocking and stiff arming, although the timing is hard to get down. Salgat, your comment on blitzing is funny because I accidentally told a safety to blitz yesterday and he crushed the quarterback. Boo-ya.
Well, I'm pretty confident that my Lost prediction is wrong, at least slightly. I've since discovered/remembered that Sun was "taken" by Charlie, not by the others. Remember, they were trying to get support to build an army, so they faked Sun getting captured. So I was reading on Lostpedia (like Wikipedia but for Lost) some theories about Sun's pregnancy. Someone did the math on Sun's pregnancy, and given when she found out she was pregnant, when she would have likely been knocked up. Assuming she took the pregnancy test after missing her first period, that puts the date for impregnation on the same day that Jin left on the raft. If you're telling me that Jin gets on the boat and sails away without getting his freak on with his wife one more time, you are crazy my friend. Therefore, I think Jin is the father and the magic of the island accounts for his lack of sterile-ness.
The real news - I got a "Tooth Tunes" toothbrush as a gift today from Molly. It's a toothbrush that plays music....through your teeth!!! So now when I brush my teeth, I hear the Rocky theme (through my teeth!) Now I'm not gonna lie, you can certainly hear the music without brushing your teeth. But when you put the brush on a tooth, it's way louder and sweeter. I highly recommend one.
Finally, if you want to know the age of consent for any state in the USA, check out www.boneage.net. You can even get it on a t-shirt, in case you need quick access to it someday. Turns out there's a lot of complications here, including several states that the age of consent is different for boys vs girls (14 for ladies in a few states, and all of Canada). The Wikipedia article tells me that in Massachusetts, the age of consent is 16...unless a 'victim' of 'chaste life' is induced to have sex with the perpetrator, then it's 18.

Week one is defeated
So I made it through my first full week of work. I still hate getting up in the morning, surprise surprise. I think I mentioned before that I'm now working on a different project than when I left, and I'm definitely happy that that is happening. This project is way better, so that's moderately sweet.
I think I've caught up on all the TV that I needed to watch this week...Lost was pretty sweet in it's return. I know some people were disappointed in the comeback episode, but I thought it was good. Yeah, let's talk about Lost - I'm confident that Sun is preggo because she got injected with the pregnancy juice that Juliet was cooking up (alllllriiiiight). Remember back a season ago, Sun was working in the garden, then she got a burlap bag put over her head and dragged away? The Wikipedia entry says that Kate and someone else found her unconscious in the woods, which leads me to believe that she totally could have been injected with the preggo juice. This happened in episode 37 (Season 2) and in episode 40, Sun thinks she is pregnant. I don't know what the difference in Lost-time is between these episodes, but damnit I think that's what happened.
In other news, American Idol is finally past the auditions. It's about time.
I got my ass kicked in the only game of Madden I played this week. I've discovered that I really have a problem on Defense. Well, first off, I decided that I would be the Lions, which is a problem in itself. Then, I just don't know what to do on defense. I totally can't guard the wide receivers due to my lack of reflexes, and I'm not useful on the line because I can't get the rip/swim move down. I think I might just not participate in the defense. Oh well, practice makes perfect right? Of course right.

Words words words
So it's Tuesday, and today was day 3 of back to work. I'm still catching up on what's happened, getting back in my groove. I've pretty much been relieved of all major projects that I had before (anything pressing has been taken care of), so I'm starting work on some other major project that I had been putting off before. That's good news, I would say, but it's a little weird.
I'm still feeling pretty good. I went to the hospital yesterday for another "shot", but they told me that if I wasn't in pain then there isn't a need for one. So I'm done with the shots, until the pain comes back at least. The doctor said sometimes the procedure lasts for a year, sometimes only a few weeks. He does seem to expect me back in for more, which implies that I'm doomed for recurring back pain indefinitely. Pretty sweet. Oh well.
LOST TOMORROW!!! Yeah buddy.
This weekend I went to Shanty Creek for some ski-resortage. It's really nice up there, I'm not going to lie. But man was it cold! Lots of snow too. I had a good time, no injuries, and lots of good pictures to show for it.
Speaking of pictures, I recently discovered that my photo gallery server wasn't visible to anybody that isn't in my apartment! Oh drat. I reconfigured some firewall settings, and it's good to go. So if you've been DYING to see my pictures (or anyone else's), they are there now.

One more day of freedom...
I'm going back to work tomorrow - yeah, it's a Friday, I know. I figured that I wouldn't get jack done on my first day back, so why not make it a Friday? Then next week I can start rocking out like normal. Plus my group goes to Panchero's (the best burrito establishment in history) every Friday, so I can catch that too. Probably missing a month of giant burritos has contributed to the weight that I've lost while not being at work. Yeah, go figure, being confined to do NOTHING laying on my floor has caused me to lose weight. F you exercise!!!
Today is my last day off, and I've got a lot to do. I've got a dentist appointment and an eyedoctor's appointment, which both were put off due to my back failure and now I've got to do. Wii Bowling League tonight, and I've got to pack for this weekend, when I'll be going to Shanty Creek with a bunch of homies from work. They will be skiing, but I'll be holding down the fort back in the condo that we've got. I'm planning on bringing the Wii, so I can improve my Madden skills. Hopefully my arm doesn't fall off, it's still a little sore I think due to the combination of Wii and my laptop trackpad.
Top Chef is over, I'm glad Marcel lost. And is American Idol done with auditions yet? I totally did not expect it to last this long. How about the old guy auditioning for his recently deceased wife? Touching I tell you, touching.
