Search fail

So I went to meijer.com just now, and I wanted to see how much a pack of socks cost (I need to perform the Great Sock Exodus of 2009). Not wanting to discover where socks are in their navigation, I put in the keyword "socks" and hit search. What did I come up with...?

  • books on crocheting socks

  • rock em sock em robots

  • clothes hamper

  • coat rack

  • hanging vinyl organizer

  • creepy porcelain dolls

  • fiber one bars

  • Newmann's pasta sauce

  • Wii Fit fitness pack

  • a James Brown cd and a rock and roll Christmas hits CD

  • birdfeeders

Things that I did not find:

  • socks

Awesome.

UPDATE: Okay, after looking at their site, it's apparent that Meijer online doesn't sell clothes, including socks. So that would be why. Who does that, come on!

Meijer.com sucks. After living right by a Walmart and not having a Meijer closer than an hour away, I have realized that Walmart is a lot better. I hate the fact that because of their size they have every product they sell in a stranglehold, but in the end the prices are lower, their web site is better, and their stores are better. However their clothes selection ranks just behind K-Mart in the old man look department. That's kinds sad.

Yeah, I'm totally disagreeing with you. I was in Wal-Mart this weekend, not enjoyable at all. All the people in there are mean and/or gross, the staff and the shoppers. The stuff on the racks is chaos, generally reminding me of TJMaxx or the (dearly departed) Value City. The inside looks like an epic-ly generic building out of a bad movie.

The prices are generally cheaper at Wal-Mart, but most of the time it's negligible and totally not worth the pain and sorrow. Their website is better than Meijer, that's true, but if I'm shopping online Amazon is the place to be. The only real reason I had to go to Wal-Mart was removed when Meijer upgraded their photo area, so I can submit a picture online and pick up the print in-store.

I don't even mind the juggernaut small-town-killing aspect of Wal-Mart. Business-wise, it makes sense - if I was running a grocery chain, that's totally what I would do too. Ugh, but I hate the stores. Even the parking lot of the one here sucks. Although I will admit, the lights in the freezer section that turn on when you walk by - that is AWESOME. Two points there.
