I do what my closet tells me to
The dress code at my job is decidedly "professional". Dress shirt and tie, dress pants, every day. In some ways that can be a pain. The good news though, is that (at least for guys) it makes getting dressed in the morning a brain-dead decision.
In an effort to make getting dressed really require as close to zero thought as possible in the morning, I've been taking it one step further by implementing a simple rotation for shirts and pants. You might notice in the above photo that there's shirts on the left, pants on the right. The rotation is simple - every day, just wear the shirt and pair of pants that meet in the middle.
Now, it's not always zero-thought. Sometimes, I might have to go slightly outside the current pair of pants to avoid a particularly unfortunate color combination. But you've got a queue of options just ready to go. Not only is it zero-thought most of the time, it also generally ensures equal wearing of the shirts and pants. And when you've got 5 pairs of the same Steve & Barry's pants, that is critical!
So it's that easy. One less thing to think about in the morning. Your clothes are treated equally. Everybody kicks a goal. Efficiency for the win!
