A while ago I ran across this Lifehacker article suggesting that you organize clothes in your drawer horizontally instead of vertically. So instead of having a stack of t-shirts, you have a row of t-shirts. The advantage being, if you need a shirt that's not on top it makes life a lot easier. I figured I would try it out.
And a couple of months later, I'm happy to report that it's generally been a success. As you may know, I'm a big fan of the closet rotation. So when I'm wearing stuff, I just want to pick whatever's next in the queue. This is especially true for how I use my dresser t-shirts, which are just for around the house usage. The "filing" method of folding your clothes makes it a lot easier to keep this happening - just pick from one side, and fill clean laundry from the other.
I currently have my undershirts and underwear in one drawer, however, which does cause a bit of an issue. It's kinda a pain to fill from the back, unless I'm running seriously low on either. And with t-shirts, the bad news there is the back half of your drawer is also difficult to access. So there's tradeoffs. But in case you thought your clothes folding technique couldn't be analyzed, the internet is here to prove you wrong again.
